About Our 8X10 Rugs

An 8x10 area rug measures 8 feet wide and 10 feet long. As a large area rug, it serves to define your space, anchor your room’s design, and tie all your decor elements together effortlessly.

Rug Pile and Texture: For high-traffic areas and low-clearance doors, choose a chenille rug—low-pile, lightweight, and smooth to the touch. For cozy living rooms and bedrooms, a plush 8x10 rug with a higher pile adds softness and warmth. In outdoor spaces or transitional areas, opt for a large outdoor rug with a thicker weave and fade-resistant material.

Area Rug Color: Since an 8x10 rug covers a large portion of your floor, selecting the right color is crucial. Neutral tones like white, cream, grey, beige, tan, or taupe provide a clean backdrop for your furniture and decor. For more visual impact, consider bold shades of red, green, blue, orange, yellow, or purple, which can define the overall theme of your space.

Area Rug Style or Pattern: The pattern of your rug can either make or break your room’s look. Start by considering your room’s theme, such as bohemian, modern, traditional, or farmhouse. Then, choose a pattern that complements it. For modern rooms, a geometric or abstract design works best. For a farmhouse feel, go for a Persian-style rug with a subtle distressed look. For a bohemian or eclectic space, opt for intricate floral patterns.

Area Rug Safety: Our 8X10 Rugs have a matching Rug Pad that is specifically crafted to cling to the Rug Cover and the floor, keeping your rug securely in place.

Living Room: In an open floor plan or any room at least 3 feet larger than the rug’s length and width, an 8x10 rug can be used to anchor the space. If your living area is smaller, leave a 12 to 18-inch border of flooring around the rug. This size can also support a 6- to 7-foot sofa, leaving around 18 inches of visible rug on either side for side tables. Ideally, place all your furniture pieces on the rug; if that’s not possible, have just the front legs of larger furniture on it.

Bedroom: An 8x10 rug is a suitable fit under a full, queen, king, or even a California king bed frame. The rug should sit nearly completely under the bed and nightstands, leaving at least 2 feet of soft surface around the bed. Place the bottom two-thirds of your bed on the rug and leave at least 12 inches of rug exposed on all sides.

Dining Room: This rug size works perfectly under a dining table for 6 people, which measures about 5x3 feet. It leaves approximately 30 inches on all sides, allowing for easy movement of dining chairs without leaving the rug.

Patio: An 8x10 indoor/outdoor area rug is a chic addition to any patio or porch. Our indoor/outdoor rugs are fade- and water-resistant, ensuring your outdoor space stays stylish and sophisticated year-round.

The room should be big enough so that the 8x10 area rug is at least 12 inches from each wall to allow the rug to settle. We recommend your room be at least 10 by 12 feet to accommodate an 8x10 area rug. If your room is smaller than 10 by 12 feet, we recommend a smaller size area rug, such as our 5X8 area rugs.

It really depends on the size and layout of your living room, but a good rule of thumb is to leave about 18-24 inches of bare floor around the perimeter of the area rug.

An 8’x10’ area rug measures 8 feet (96 inches/2.44 meters) wide and 10 feet (120 inches/3.05 meters) long, and has an area of 80 square feet (11,520 square inches/7.43 square meters). Exact dimensions may vary by a few inches +/- due to production

How are different rugs made?

Handwoven rugs are meticulously made by hand using a large loom, with each piece of yarn interlaced horizontally and vertically. The warped yarn at the end of the loom forms the fringe.

Hand-knotted rugs are individually knotted by hand onto the rug's foundation as the rug is being woven to create a pile.

Hand-loomed rugs are pile rugs made on a loom, with an innovative technique that lifts the warp yarn to create a pile that’s looped or cut.

Hand-tufted rugs start as a pattern drawn on canvas where yarn is shot in loops onto the canvas with a mechanized "gun" to form a pile, which is then trimmed for a smooth cut-pile finish. To secure the loops, a rubber or latex backing is painted onto the back of the canvas.

Machine-woven rugs are often made by power looms, and the speed and efficacy with which they can complete a rug makes these pieces highly affordable.

How do I wash my rug?

Simply machine wash your rug with cold water using a gentle cycle. Do not bleach. We recommend line drying or drying without heat on an air-only drying cycle. A low heat iron can be used if needed. To remove any light dirt or debris, hand vacuum carefully on the lowest setting without the beater bar.
